So Here is the Problem

Posted by thecrookedmailbox on 30 May 2008

I just can’t figure out who to write a four page paper about something that can be summed up in five sentences.  Yes, hundreds of men died during the Revolutionary War.  Yes, it was a catapult for our American Armed Forces.  Yes, the Constitution was a major factor in causing the Civil War.

See?  I’m done.  I get it.  The founding fathers were important.  We know this, why spend so much time and energy writing the obvious?  The one thing college is teaching me is that I probably would not make a very good English major, or History, or, well…a liberal arts major and all that degree would entail.

I enjoy clear cut simple facts.  This is why I enjoyed my Reasoned Discourse class.  It was simple, there wasn’t room for discussion because the material was logic…and logic is what it is, it can’t be twisted and turned (well possibly, but then we are talking about some serious brain action).

Anyway, if any of you that read my blog (possibly one) I could use some advice on how to write this paper about 1776.

Thoughts for the Lord’s Day

Posted by thecrookedmailbox on 25 May 2008

A couple of weeks ago my husband and I went to our friends Church.  They had been inviting us for months, so we went.  I am perfectly happy at our own Church, yet I thought it would be polite to attend their service.  Boy, did I learn my lesson.

I am thankful for Sovereign Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Boise, Idaho.  It is my opinion (I know I might be biased) that we are blessed with the most faithful preacher in the Northwest.  I don’t say this because I like our pastors personality, or his wife, or anything else.  I say this because he preaches without thought to man.

Today we heard a sermon about the gospel which encouraged me.  It reminded me to remain viligant in my faith, to return to Christ and His word and not to wish for something easier.  I’ve been to several Churches in the Treasure Valley and each time, I am disheartened.  There are so many preachers who give one verse and use the world to corroborate God’s Word.  This is so wrong, so backwards.  We shouldn’t look to the world to see God’s grace.  We should look to God’s Word to see His grace.

To find a faithful preacher is hard.  It was even in Biblical times (or at least during the time of Christ’s ressurection and shortly thereafter).  Our elders serve their flock well and obediently.  What a gift.

Shucksteads…miss you, praying for you and hoping we can see each other soon!!!

Summer School…

Posted by thecrookedmailbox on 24 May 2008

For History I have to write a book analysis for 1776 by David McCullough.  The professor doesn’t want a “book report” and he doesn’t need to know if you’ve read the book.  He wants to find that as a student, I  grasped the understanding of the Revolution, meaning that I comprehend these events “didn’t happen in a vacuum”.

I have zero desire to write this paper.  History is just not my thing…I can’t wait to be a junior college student.  Please tell me it gets better….

Ron Paul tid-bits

Posted by thecrookedmailbox on 8 May 2008

This was sent to me via e-mail.  I thought I would share…

ELECTION MANIPULATION: NEVADA GOP SABOTAGES RON PAUL DELEGATE VOTE
The Republican Party has a real problem with Ron Paul. He just won’t go away quietly. He is still a candidate for President. He hasn’t conceded or dropped out–despite media wishful thinking. Best of all, he refuses to endorse front runner John McCain, the worst warmongering candidate of the entire Republican field. Frankly, Dr. Paul both scares and embarrasses the Republican leadership. They are afraid that if he gets any momentum or significant number of delegates to the convention they will have to let him make a major address on prime time TV and thus more converts. And, Dr. Paul is certainly capable of making converts. He takes all the traditional positions the Republican Party was built upon and that core Republican voters love: small and limited federal government, low regulation, non-aggressive foreign policy, honest money, anti-abortion, and pro-family values. The Republican National Committee wants him to go away so they can get on with the promotion of Sen. John McCain-a totally dishonest and corrupt insider, according to his own son–and continue the hidden globalist agenda which now rules the Party at the highest levels. This week in the Nevada GOP convention, the party leadership shut down the convention when it became obvious that Ron Paul supporters outnumbered those loyal to party leaders who wanted to elect only McCain delegates to the national convention–even though Romney won the primary and Paul came in second, above McCain. It’s as if they are saying, “If we don’t like the results of the vote, we’ll adjourn till we can muster enough of our people to outnumber you!”

RON PAUL PUTS PETRAEUS AND CROCKER ON THE SPOT
This didn’t surface till weeks after the Petraeus dog and pony show before Congress. The media refused to cover Ron Paul’s grilling of these two shills for President Bush, but the American Free Press got the word out. Paul correctly surmised that the entire Petraeus/Crocker presentation was meant to pave the way for a war on Iran:
“‘Reviewing the presentations by our panel, I have noted with some concern that they seem more focused on justifying a future attack on Iran than reporting on progress in Iraq,’ Paul said. Paul said he suspects that these Iranian-supported ‘Special Groups’ are not the prime enemy. He suggested they are being used to provide an excuse for a U.S. attack on Iran or are meant as justification for a permanent U.S. military presence in Iraq. Paul then challenged them to produce ‘any hard proof ‘ that the Iranian government is arming groups in Iraq.”
Then came the question that had everyone ducking for cover: Paul asked, “I do have one question that there is enough time to answer: In your estimation, does the administration have the authority to bomb Iran without further congressional approval?”
Petraeus: “Uh, congressman, I, uh, I’m the commander for Iraq, and I do not know the answer to that question, and it’s not within my purview.” Crocker had more of the same: “Er, uhh, congressman, nor is it in mine, er, ahh, uh, I, uhh you know, my job is Iraq, and I’m just not competent to pronounce on, uh, an issue like that.” Disgusted, Congressman Paul quipped: “It disturbs me to no end that we cannot get a flat-out ‘no’ on this question.”
